  • Please make an appointment if you want to speak to your child’s teacher about his / her progress.

How do I drop-off & collect my child?
  • Please note that children may not be dropped off at the gate, but should be handed over by the parent / guardian to the teacher on duty.
  • The children should also be collected personally by the parent / guardian. No child will be sent out to a waiting car or handed over to a child.
  • An urgent appeal is made that parents should not come late to fetch the child, as it is a frightening experience for a small child. The school must be notified beforehand. We also need a copy of the person’s ID, who fetches the child.
  • A fine of R35.00 will be charged for every 5 minutes if you arrive late, and is payable immediately.
  • Please do not ring the bell between 12h30 and 14h00, our children are sleeping.
  • Please do not park in front of the gate.
What happens if my child is ill?
Children MUST remain home and/or will send home for the following reasons:

  • Any illness that prevent a child from participating comfortably in activities.
  • The illness results in a greater need for care that the providers can provide without compromising the health and safety of the other children in care.
  • The child has any of the following conditions:
    • Fever of 37 degrees or higher accompanied by behavior changes or other signs of illnesses.
    • Symptoms and signs of possible severe illness such as lethargy that is more than expected tiredness, uncon-trolled coughing, inexplicable or persistent crying, difficulty breathing, wheezing or other unusual signs for the child.
    • Diarrhea not associated with changes in diet. Regardless if child is able to make it to the bathroom. Stool must return to normal before coming back to childcare without the aid of medications.
    • Vomiting.
    • Sores unless doctor determines that the child is not contagious with a doctor’s note.
    • Unexplained rash.
    • Conjunctivitis (defined as the whites of the eye being pink or red and having white, yellow or green discharge from the eyes).
    • Head Lice – Child must remain home until treated and completely nit free.

Your child may return to school 24 hours after the symptoms of the illness have ended and no over the counter medications are necessary or the child has been on antibiotics (if deemed necessary by a doctor) for a full 24 hours and is no longer contagious.

What should my child wear to school?

Parents are requested to dress children in comfortable clothes. Playing with paints, sand, water and mud is part of the day’s “work” and smart clothes restrict the child’s participation in these important activities. Children are also encouraged to learn independence and should therefore be dressed in clothes that permit them to dress and undress themselves.

Please note: All possessions must be clearly marked. ACVV Management and Staff will not accept responsibility of any lost items. The following clothing is not permissible: belts, fairy dresses and boiler suites.

Clothing for girls:

  • No naked tummies! T-shirts should cover the tummies.
  • When wearing a dress, your daughter must please wear a pair of shorts or ski-pants underneath.
  • No “fairy-shoes”: the child cannot play / run and fall easily.
  • No lipstick, deodorant, perfume or nail varnish may be sent to school.
  • Long hair must be tied in order to avoid accidents. Fringes must be short and neat.
